Free limits, explained
On the day we checked, Paraphraser.io showed two different free limits: 400 words in the editor and 600 words in its FAQ. Rephrasa states one number in the tool and on the pricing page: 500 words per request and 2,000 words per day for free, reset at 00:00 UTC. The counter under the input box shows how many words you have left.
Paraphraser.io offers more modes, including Shorten and Expand. Rephrasa keeps three modes on purpose, each tuned for academic and professional writing, and protects citations, numbers and technical terms in all of them.
Pricing model: weekly plans or one-time Premium
Paraphraser.io leads with a weekly price. Rephrasa sells Premium as a single QRIS payment of Rp29,000 for 30 days, scanned from any Indonesian e-wallet or banking app, with no auto-renewal. When it ends, it ends; you buy a new code only if you want more. Premium raises the limits to 2,000 words per request and 20,000 per day.
When Paraphraser.io may suit you better
- You want modes such as Shorten, Expand or Creative that Rephrasa does not offer.
- You paraphrase in one of the many languages Paraphraser.io lists beyond English and Indonesian.
- You need features it lists that Rephrasa does not have, such as file upload or image-to-text.
Rephrasa fits better when you write academic texts, want the citation step on the same site, and prefer a clear free limit with no ads at launch.
A note on plagiarism wording
Paraphrasing a source in new words is still using that source. Rephrasa does not describe paraphrasing as a way to avoid plagiarism; it asks you to cite the original, and makes that easy with the citation generator. Requests to get past plagiarism checkers or AI detectors are refused.
A checklist for choosing a paraphraser
- Is the free limit stated once and clearly?
- Are citations, numbers and terms protected?
- Can you see exactly what changed?
- Does the site say what happens to your text?
- Does it treat paraphrasing as something that still needs a citation?
Use the list on any tool, including this one.
Paraphrasing and citing in one place
After a paraphrase, the natural next step is a reference. On Rephrasa the Create Citation button under the paraphraser opens the citation generator, which formats the source in APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, IEEE or AMA from its DOI, URL or ISBN. On the day we checked, Paraphraser.io's home page did not offer a citation generator next to its paraphraser.
